What started as a simple, local concours of the Ferrari Owners Club of the San Diego Region eight years ago has now grown into San Diego's finest celebration of Italian exotic sports and GT cars.  The 2008 Bella Italia Annual Mickey Miller Memorial was an impressive display of approximately 150 of the best examples of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Maseratis, along with several Italian motorbikes and a few additional award-winning cars.  Together with the support of our generous sponsors and friends, our organization was able to make a significant donation to the Scripps Cancer Center, Stevens Division in La Jolla.

I want to extend a special thank you to Jim and Joanne Hyldahl, who with the support of many board members and friends successfully planned and executed the event.  Additionally, during Bella Italia it was an honor to present my good friend Joe Charles with the annual Mickey Miller Award for his support and contributions to the club.  Joe, along with his lovely wife Doris offer their continuous help for nearly every club event and activity - you don't have to ask for Joe's help, he is just there.
 
The event reinforces what a terrific club we have.  One of the benefits of being president of FOC-SDR is that I receive correspondence from the public and other FOC regions. Without a doubt the San Diego region is the most active and continues to display the real meaning of what a car club is all about- our members. The club could not exist without the support of our board and the wonderful volunteers who donate their time.  Volunteering is time consuming, however the rewards of working with such a remarkable group of volunteers is priceless.
